Morris Paper Mill Case

The Paper Mill was the oldest continually running business in Morris. It began as the Allen Paper Car Wheel factory in 1881 making straw pulp into car wheels for Pullman train passenger cars. Some 20 years later the company was restructured into a box board manufacturer. It became the Morris Paper Mills in 1915. By the 1920s it was making boxes of every kind, color and size and shipping them all over the country. They had their own shipping company—Valley Trucking. The mill operated as Federal Paperboard until it closed in 1980.

The Sanborn fire map on the wall shows how large the property was—60 acres.

Mill Journal was the employee newsletter started during WWII and sent to former workers on the front lines.

Patent Notebook and Box of Fittings belonged to Francis Kulig who worked as a designer during the 1950s-60s.
