Hornsby Store

This was the forerunner of Walmart—the Hornsby Five and Dime. Aaron Hornsby put together this display. His grandfather, Art Hornsby, Sr., started it after he bought out the Hertz Variety Store on the Corner of Liberty & Main (where the Fabric Center is now) in 1919. During the next 10 years he opened 5 more stores. Art and his son kept opening new stores, each one larger than the last until there were 30 Hornsby stores in 1983. The last store in Morris was the Hornsby Family Center on Waverly Street—where Resolve Fitness is today. All the stores closed in 1984
